The River Trent

The stretch of river runs alongside the Trent and Mersey canal for approximately 3 miles  from Enson through to Weston and is easily accessed from the canal and other well signposted points along the route.

The stretch is made up of a number of deep sweeping bends and long pools and is a prime example of upper Trent fishing, the banks are high and in the Summer the bank side vegetation is vigorous which adds to its charm and provides the cover required to target the rivers occupants.

The river contains a large head of chub up to 6lb and barbel up to 10lb. Trout and Grayling are also present.

A long landing net handle 3-4 m is vital and care needs to be taken at some of the swims.
