A small pool of about 0.5 acres holding a good head of Tench, catches of around 20, the majority around the 2lb. mark, are not uncommon.
There are a lot of small roach with the occasional one nearing the 1 lb mark and some crucians were introduced but are rarely caught. The perch were all killed in the pollution about 4 years ago.
Fishing maggot catches tench but also attracts the roach, the use of sweetcorn seems to solve this problem.
About half of the pool is shallow, 18” – 24” but all pegs seem to catch fish equally well.
