The Trent & Mersey Canal

This is an extremely well stocked fishery with most coarse fish species stocked in abundance. Perch, Roach, Bream, Hybrid’s, Chub, Carp and Pike can be caught from all sections throughout the canal.

Large Carp, Chub, Pike and Perch can be targeted using specialist techniques, giving this water many variations in angling styles. Mixed pleasure nets of 5-10lb from an afternoons fishing are not uncommon and bags of over 20lb have occurred in both matches and pleasure sessions alike.

In response to the recent renewed interest in canal fishing partly due to dropshotting and light lure fishing, the club has recently extended its stretch of the Trent & Mersey canal we now control from Bridge 77 (Ed Weetmans) up to and including Bridge 83 (Sandon Lock). This continuous length of the canal now offers member more than 4 miles of canal fishing with various access points and canal features to explore.

The Saracens Head pub approximately halfway along the length offers the perfect place for the roving angler to quench their thirst or grab a bite to eat
